Born in southern
Ireland
, Ann Keane immigrated to
Canada
with her family in 1968. The daughter of Dr.’s Patrick and Maureen
Keane, Ann and her 5 siblings, were gifted to have been born into a family
who lived from love. Growing up with minimal possessions, what Ann
remembers most was not the lack (of things, toys, fashionable clothes
etc), compared to all others, but the abundance of love. Dr. Patrick Keane
gave everything he could to this world…including financially. Mostly, he
gave love.
Ann went in to nursing school
at age 15. By age 36, Ann had run a 200 bed auxiliary hospital, a large
home care program, seniors assisted living centers, written two books
(Mission Driven: Creating Unlimited versus Limited Success, and, Soul
Work: The Power of the Well Person/Caregiver). She had taught
internationally, was a plenary speaker at many regional, national and
international conferences, and a consultant for organizations.
She has traveled extensively
through out the world either consulting, working or simply being and
living amongst her fellow human beings (especially in the parts of the
world which do not have as many physical comforts as nations similar to
Canada.)
After years of endeavoring to
effect change in congruence with sanctioned routes, Ann, disillusioned,
and then, inspired, ran across
Canada
. To commit to such a journey of magnitude meant Ann, who had run only a
little in the past 15 years, had to release from almost everything she had
known. She had to resign, not only from her work, but from what everyone
else saw as important in life. This was the beginning of “Miracles and
Madness”. Ann ran 7831 kms in 143 days, inadvertently setting a Guinness
World Record http://www.powerofpeoplerun.com
. She almost died a number of times, but trusted in the Mission…to
endeavor to inspire people…each one of us…in every magical moment…to
help make this world a better place. It was an effort of love…an effort
to remind people of what they know to be “right” and ‘true’…to
reach out to others...To give someone a hug…To greet a new employee
(instead of ignoring them)…to stand up for things that are wrong…at
home, or at work. Ann believes
that by being silent we sanction the continuance of that which is not
`correct', So, if we choose to live the seemingly simple, yet hope
provoking acts of humanity…to be and live our true Selves…to remember
our Magnificence…and create it…letting "Who" we are ripple
out into the world…making this world a better place.
She was reminding us of
Choice…our choices…to make a difference…One by One.
By running across this vast
nation, alone on the highway except for her dog, Ann was able to reconnect
with the magic of nature…and all of life. No longer governed by what
humanity said was `right’, Ann remembered her connection to All.
The run completed, Ann returned
to what people would call a more `normal choice’ in order to continue to
support her children, Kevin and Brendan. Ann went back to work with people
as a nurse and educator. And, started writing stories and creating images
that she hoped would also help make this world a better place. These
stories honored all that is life…and encouraged…reminded and
celebrated all who chose to Live their most Magnificent Selves...
